We've identified 5 key misconceptions that lead to systems designed with insufficient or improper lighting. This session will break down what these misconceptions are using real-world examples and how to rethink machine vision lighting so you can avoid these pitfalls yourself.

Machine vision lighting is about utilizing the physics of light to create contrast so that your program can easily detect its inspection target. Lighting Principles Part 1 will cover the 3 main ways we use geometry (lighting direction) to create contrast: brightfield/darkfield, shadowless, and collimation, and what lights produce these different effects.

In Lighting Principles Part 2, we will cover how the wavelength, polarization, and amplitude of the light will affect the image. We'll also look at various lighting options and tools used to create and control these effects.

Learn how lighting controllers impact image quality, system reliability, and inspection accuracy. This session covers the purpose of lighting control, compares controller methods, and shares how to select the right one for your application.
